R + D
Decade
Deploying High Capacity, Dense Small Cell Heterogeneous Networks
The DECADE project adopts the scheme of Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE), with the effect of inter‐sectorial efforts and knowledge integration to tackle the challenges in HetNet planning and optimization. The research consists in fundamental capacity analysis, system modeling, algorithm development, and performance engineering for HetNets. In addition, DECADE serves as a solid platform to promote long‐term collaboration between academia and industry collaboration in a rapidly evolving area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Europe.
Iquadrat main contribution to the DECADE project is related to the HetNet backhaul planning and optimization providing backhauling design guidelines for various HetNet scenarios, as well as HetNet planning and optimization tool by implementing the system‐level HetNet simulator, and the IoT over cellular testbed. Moreover, IQU will be leading the Exploitation, dissemination, and public engagement. IQU is interested in DECADE to improve its simulator and testbed with HetNet considerations in order to adapt them to 5G, and to the IoT over cellular paradigm.
