Description: Iquadrat also offers a versatile software framework for smart energy solutions, currently consisting of two key components, namely a Smart Grid Software Framework (SGSF) and an Electric Vehicle Charging Management (EVCM) solution.

The SGSF facilitates the efficient design and energy operation of urban buildings, taking into account their energy needs and the availability of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems. The SGSF includes various energy management schemes, which target to reduce the overall energy consumption (especially in peak demand periods), and provides a resourceful set of tools for the optimal configuration of vital characteristics of a building (e.g., ventilation and air conditioning systems, heating, energy storage, etc.), targeting to reduce the dependency from the main distribution grid. Finally, the framework also supports the energy cooperation schemes for the energy exchange between neighboring buildings.

The Electric Vehicle Charging Management (EVCM) framework provides effective solutions for the optimal operation and management of EV charging stations. This software tool uses a sophisticated approach for the derivation of EVs’ recharging patterns, as well as realistic parameters for the different EV types, batteries and charging options (AC/DC). Hence, the EVCM framework enables the estimation of the average waiting time of EVs at the charging stations, which can lead to the optimal design of the charging infrastructure. Finally, the tool considers various charging pricing schemes towards the derivation of the optimal management strategy to guarantee profit maximization.
